What we collect and why

If you join the waitlist

Joining the waitlist stores only your email address. That row cannot be read back through the website — the waitlist table grants the site permission to write a new address, not to read, change, or delete existing ones. We use it to email you when HouseLyfe opens to new households, and for nothing else.

If you have a household account

Signing in uses your email and password to authenticate you. Once you have a household, setup asks for your household name, home address, property type, and (optionally) your homeowners insurance provider, electric provider, and internet provider. You can add vehicles, insurance policies, utility accounts, loans, and vendor contacts as you go.

Every one of those tables is protected by row-level security in the database: a query only returns rows belonging to a household you are a confirmed member of. There is no way for one household to read another's data through the product, and no table allows anonymous read access.

Forwarded documents

Each household gets a unique forwarding address in the form {token}@houselyfe.com. Anything forwarded there — the email body, and any PDF attachment — is processed to extract details like amounts, dates, and policy or account numbers, and the extracted result, along with the original content, is stored against your household. This can include insurance policy numbers, mortgage and auto loan numbers, and vehicle VINs, so we treat these tables (forwarded email content and uploaded documents) as high-sensitivity and never log or export them outside the database.

The forwarding token in that address works like a credential: anyone who has it can send mail that gets processed into your household's records. Don't share it publicly.

What we don't do

We don't sell your data. We don't run third-party advertising trackers on this site. HouseLyfe is currently on hold for new households (see About), and while it is paused there is no new account creation or data collection beyond the waitlist email capture described above and the optional analytics described below.

Analytics and cookies

With your consent, we use PostHog to measure how visitors use the site: pages viewed, clicks, and session recordings. PostHog sets cookies or local storage in your browser to recognise a return visit. Form fields are masked in recordings, so what you type into them is not captured. Analytics and recordings run on the public pages only (home, About, Contact, Privacy); they are never active on sign-in, invitation, onboarding or dashboard pages, where household details appear on screen. We may add Microsoft Clarity (session recordings and heatmaps) in the future; it would be covered by the same choice, and this page would be updated first.

Nothing is requested from PostHog until you click Accept. If you decline or ignore the banner, no analytics script is loaded. You can change your choice at any time with in the page footer; declining after accepting stops collection and clears the stored PostHog identifier.
